Repeated contractions of facial muscles can cause deep folds and wrinkles to form between the eyebrows, around the eyes, and in the forehead.
As we age, these dynamic wrinkles become more prominent, making us appear older and more stressed.
Dysport®
Dysport® in Colorado is a new treatment for wrinkles that works by temporarily relaxing the facial muscles that cause wrinkling, much like Botulinum Toxin Cosmetic. Dysport® was approved by the FDA for cosmetic use in the United States in April 2009, but it has been used for many years in Europe with an excellent safety profile. Many patients feel that Dysport® may begin to work sooner than Botulinum Toxin Cosmetic, but additional studies may be needed before the evidence is considered conclusive. Dr. McCracken has been offering Dysport® injections in Boulder and Denver, Colorado since the treatment was approved by the FDA.
About the Dysport® Procedure
Dysport® injections take about ten minutes to administer. Generally, patients can expect to experience only mild discomfort. Patients can resume normal activities immediately following the procedure. Visible improvements in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles can be seen within days, and results typically last for up to four months. Cosmetic fillers may be used along with Dysport® injections to maximize facial rejuvenation.
