Dr. Michael McCracken and the team at McCracken Eye and Face Institute understand that our patients want to look and feel their best. However, the natural effects of the aging process and sun exposure can make a face look sad, angry or fatigued. The brow and forehead area is particularly susceptible to wrinkling and sagging.
Dr. McCracken can perform brow lift, also known as forehead lift, to elevate the brows and restore a youthful, rested appearance to the eyes. When brow lift is performed correctly, the brows sit in a youthful position on the orbital bone above the eye, and the forehead skin is smoothed. Brow lift patients love that they look younger, fresher and more approachable; as a result, many tell us that they feel happier and more confident.
Brow Lift at a Glance
- Elevates sagging or low eyebrows to create a more youthful and alert appearance
- Smoothes horizontal creases along the forehead
- Eliminates frown lines or furrows between the eyebrows
- Can be performed endoscopically with smaller incisions for a rapid recovery
What Happens During the Brow Lift Procedure?
Dr. McCracken first creates several small incisions in the hair-bearing scalp. He inserts a long, thin tube called an endoscope through the incisions. The endoscope has a camera at the end that enables him to see and work on the forehead’s structures without making larger incisions that could lead to noticeable scarring.
Through the incisions, Dr. McCracken adjusts muscles that contribute to brow droop, and he removes any fat that gives the brows a heavy look. He trims excess skin, tightening the remaining skin and stitching it into place.
Anesthesia is used for a comfortable patient experience, and the recovery period is usually very rapid. There may be bruising, swelling or numbness for the first few days after surgery. Sutures and stitches are usually removed about a week after surgery.
Comprehensive Facial Rejuvenation
Brow lift does not improve baggy or puffy eyelids or under-eye bags. However, the procedure is often combined with upper eyelid surgery or lower eyelid surgery to treat those issues simultaneously. Brow lift can also be combined with mid-face lift or cheek lift to rejuvenate the upper two thirds of the face.
