Restore Facial Volume and Reduce Deep Wrinkles with Injectables and Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers address this volume loss by filling in deep wrinkles and folds, and can also be used to restore volume loss in the lips. A new, exciting application for dermal fillers is filling in the area around the bags under the eyes. There are a number of filler categories available to address these issues.

Dermal Fillers

Denver facial plastic surgeon Dr. Michael McCracken uses a variety of hyaluronic acid fillers, which are longer lasting than collagen and have a high safety profile. These fillers all have added local anesthetic to maximize patient comfort. Hyaluronic acid is a substance found naturally in human skin that helps provide skin with fullness, hydration, and elasticity. When skin ages and loses hyaluronic acid, fullness is diminished and wrinkles and deep folds can develop, especially around the eyes, nose, and mouth. Dermal fillers such as Restylane®, Perlane®, Juvéderm® Ultra, and Juvéderm® Ultra Plus help replace lost hyaluronic acid, restoring facial volume with subtle and natural-looking results that can last up to six months, and in some cases, up to a year. Simultaneous use of Botulinum Toxin Cosmetic in Colorado has been shown to prolong the effect of these fillers.

Dermal fillers can help…

Dermal fillers are a great way to restore volume to areas of the face and to fill in lines and wrinkles. Dermal fillers can also help:

  • Smooth lines and wrinkles
  • Even out deep creases and furrows
  • Fill in “hollowed” areas
  • Restore fullness and balance to the face
  • Soften “parenthesis” lines around the mouth
  • Reduce the appearance of lower lid bags
  • Add fullness to the lips

FAQs About Dermal Fillers

What is Restylane®?
Restylane® is a dermal filler made of hyaluronic acid, which is normally found in the skin and other parts of the body. Restylane® is used to fill in lines that are present at rest (such as the lines between the nose and mouth). It can also be used to add volume to the face in a number of areas. In a Restylane® blepharoplasty, Restylane® is used to add volume below the lower lid bags to conceal the bags and give the patient a youthful, more rested appearance. This is a non-surgical alternative to lower eyelid surgery. Restylane® is also used to add volume to the cheeks, to the laugh lines between the nose and mouth, and to the jaw line to restore the volume lost in the aging process. Restylane® may also be used to add volume to the lips.
What is the difference between Restylane® and Botulinum Toxin Cosmetic?
Botulinum Toxin Cosmetic is used to weaken muscles that make facial wrinkles, while Restylane® is used to restore volume or fill deep lines and folds in the face.
How soon does Restylane® take affect?
The effects of Restylane® can be seen immediately after treatment. (In fact, there is often some swelling that accentuates the effect for the first few days).
Is Restylane® safe?
Restylane® is safe and has been FDA approved since 2003.
Is Restylane® injection painful?
Restylane® is now produced with numbing medicine to increase the comfort of the procedure. Sometimes ice and/or numbing cream are also used on the skin. The overwhelming majority of patients tolerate the procedure well with minimal discomfort.
What is Perlane®?
Restylane Lyft® is a hyaluronic acid filler similar to Restylane®, except the particle size is slightly larger.
What is Juvederm®?
Juvederm® is a hyaluronic acid filler, as are Restylane® and Restylane Lyft®.
